FAQ's

What is an Apprenticeship?
On an Apprenticeship programme you will be employed full-time, (between 30 and 40 hours per week) by a Francesco Hair Salon or an Independent Salon that we work in partnership with. This means you will work alongside dedicated experienced staff, gain job specific skills, earn a wage and get holiday pay and get time to study (equivalent to a minimum of 6 hours per week), which includes theory and practical training at one of our Francesco Hair Salon Training Academies bi-weekly.

How Long Does it Take to Complete a Hairdressing Apprenticeship?
The Hair Professional Apprenticeship takes approximately 18 months to complete, and you will be required to undertake a Practical End Point Assessment to complete your qualification. The majority of our apprenticeships begin in either July or September.

The Advanced & Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship takes approximately 14 months to complete and begins in March / April each year.

What does a Hairdressing Apprentice Earn?
As an Apprentice, you will earn the National Minimum Wage for Apprentices, which from April 2023 will be £5.28. You will be paid for training days as well as the days working in the salon.

Where will I train on my Apprenticeship?
The majority of your training and assessment will take place at your salon in dedicated training sessions with the Salon Based Trainer. You will also be required to attend our state of the art Academies in Stafford, Birmingham or Poole for two days per month (once a week, bi-weekly). Our Academies reflect the most up to date salons and have lecture rooms with interactive presentation equipment and training resources to support you. We have laptops and internet access for independent learning and 1-1 support sessions to help you every step of the way. You will also have progress reviews every ten weeks carried out at your salon, with your Employer and a representative from the Academy.

What Qualification do I get on a Hairdressing Apprenticeship?
Your Hair Professional Qualification will be awarded by City and Guilds or VTCT and is a nationally recognised qualification. You will receive the following during your Apprenticeship:

• Hair Professional Qualification
• Functional Skills in Maths, English and IT Skills at Level 1 or 2 (as required)
• Francesco Hair Salon Business Enterprise Project.

Once you have achieved your Hair Professional Apprenticeship you can progress on to the Advanced Creative Hair Professional Apprenticeship.
